Village Care initiates partnerships between American Churches and rural African villages to confront poverty and the pandemic of HIV/Aids in the lives of widows and orphans in rural Africa. Our goal for the village, like our goal for our own community, is that every child will be safe, healthy, at home, in school and out of trouble.
While there are hundreds of urban programs assisting the poor, and many refugee programs, the villagers of rural Africa, where 67% of the orphans live, have no advocate.
Practices and Outcomes:
Practices are the things we focus on in the Village. Daily practices in Nutrition, Sanitation, Health Care and training in Economic Security are universal needs. The program is driven and measured by a program developed by the Placer Institute, Inc. in Auburn California called Community Outcomes. This program is a practical approach for keeping children safe, healthy, at home, in school and doing well in the community. Village Care churches are trained to use Community Outcomes in their own neighborhoods and to work with African Villages by sending teams into rural Africa trained by Village Care staff. It is a fun, dynamic and life changing experience that is transforming lives.
